Named after the suburb which was named after George Lawson who had a beche-de-mer fishing station on Green Island in the 19th century and used to collect wood where Yorkey’s Knob is. His nickname was Yorkey because he was a Yorkshire man. Yorkey’s Knob is 40 metres (131 feet) high.
